Whole Baked Cauliflower

with Red lentils

  • 1 Head Cauliflower left whole + Steamed
  • 2 Tbls grape seed or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp whole cumin seeds
  • 1 Tbls freshly grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 carrot finely diced
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ¾ cup red lentils
  • 2 cups water
  • salt and pepper to tast
  • 3 Tbls olive oil


  • Preheat oven 450°
  • To steam cauliflower place in a pot with an inch or so of water, bring to boil , cover and steam until just barely done about 10 minutes.Set aside and cool.
  • In a small pot heat oil add cumin seeds + cook 1 minute or until seeds begin to pop. Add ginger + garlic cook 2 minutes.Add carrots and turmeric cook 2 minutes now add your lentils and water cook slowly 15 minutes .Season with some salt.
  • Place the head of cauliflower in a pie dish or something similar . Coat with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place on top shelf of oven and roast 30 minutes ,until browned on edges. Serve on a platter with lentils on bottom . Delicious
